Havahart

My house has a steep tiled roof. The tiles are made of something like cement and they sometimes crack. Sometimes squirrels get on my roof, and sometimes they get IN my roof. So far in 2006 there have been squirrels in the roof a lot. I think they get in under the tiles in the spaces. Then they scratch loudly all night long. I live in a complex with a HOA, a home owners association. I wouldn't recommend our HOA to very many people because they don't do much. I have been emailing and calling them about my squirrel problem for weeks. Some workers came out and said they couldn't get up on my roof, and went away. That was the one time I ever saw any activity at all from our HOA.

Then I decided to take matters into my own hands. First I bought some fluid which is supposed to repel squirrels and tried to rig up a way to spray it on the roof. That didn't work. Then I bought a tool which chops branches off trees. I got a lot of them away from the house, but my mother-in-law saw the squirrels making majestic 8 foot leaps from the trees onto the roof of our house. Then I called an exterminator supply company. They told me they would not be able to sell me poisons without a permit. Then I asked about live cages. They said, "sure we can sell you a live cage". So I bought a medium sized Havahart brand trap. It is the best purchase I have made this year. In the last month I have caught 13 squirrels and 1 rat and relocated them to a park a couple miles away. And the noises in my roof at night have stopped. God it feels good to be a gangsta.
